  Course Syllabus

Physical Education

Grades 9-12

Instructor: Ms. Crystal Tarver

Implication For The Program

The required course for physical education emphasizes lifetime and activities. In the first semester, students will develop and maintain a level of individual fitness, learn concepts related to fitness, and come to understand that one’s lifestyle has a direct effect on one’s quality of life.

During the first 4 weeks, students will spend a minimum of 3 days in physical activity and one day in cognitive learning. The content will vary. In the last 4 weeks, students will continue to participate in a wide variety of physical activities.

To ensure variety, no more than four weeks is to be spent on any one individual, dual, or team sport. Exposure to a wide variety of activities will give students a basis for selecting elective course in their remaining high school years and for pursing activities that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Throughout the required unit students will be provided the following:

1). Vigorous physical activities at least 3 days a week.

2). Opportunities to develop social skills.

3). Exposure to a wide variety of lifetime activities.

4). Opportunities to develop, implement, and monitor individual fitness plans.
