Darrell Wayne Fixler Jr. began his  fire service career with the Black Canyon Fire Department, in Arizona service in January 1992 till 1994 when he left to serve his country in the US Marine Corps.  Lt. Fixler served during the first gulf war receiving National Defense Medal and Sharp Shooter with M16 and Excellent Shooter with 9mm award.  While in the Marine Corps he served in the 1st Tank Battalion along with working in the US Marine Corps. Police Department at MCAGCC. 

After his Honorable Discharged from the Corps, he attended the Glendale Community College Fire Academy along with Phoenix Fire Academy in Arizona were he graduated.    Lt. Fixler also had attended Emergency Medical Technician certification course in 1993 then pursued his career to Paramedic in 2001.

Lieutenant Fixler served the US Air Force as a civilian employee working for the Luke Air Force base hospital and then promoted to work for the Logistics Commander.  He served during 911 attacks and was part of the operations detail during first attacks Iraq freedom.  Lt. Fixler left the US Air force to pursue a career in Respiratory Care since he was awarded VA rehab designation.

Lieutenant Fixler holds an Associate degree in Respiratory Care from the Community College of Aurora.  He is also Licensed Respiratory Therapist in Alabama and Georgia.  Lt. Fixler also is Nationally Registered Advanced EMT and attending Paramedic again.  He has also is a certified in Basic SWAT and attended SWAT medic course.

Currently Lt. Fixler is working for the US Veteran Affairs Fire Department and has held several positions to include station Captain.  He has severed on Critical Care Committee and has working on several projects to help improve Veterans health care. 

He maintains active membership in numerous professional and trade organizations as well as a Volunteer with Franklin Fire & Rescue.  He also served on Town of Franklin Town Council.

Lieutenant Fixler has received numerous awards and commendations for his outstanding leadership and dedication to community service. He also was on Chicago Fire TV show in supportive role.  He will be back filming once the snow melts.  He attends Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga. He is married to his lovely wife Amanda Fixler.
