Physical Education Syllabus

 

Welcome, to a new school year at Deborah Cannon Wolfe. This information is to inform you of the rules, requirements, and grading policy in this program. As noted in the Alabama Course of Study, a minimum daily instructional period of at least 30 minutes in elementary physical education is required. All students will be in a structured and supervised physical education class.

 

Introduction:

My name is Mr. Beacher and I am a teacher at D.C. Wolfe Elementary. In my eyes, teachers guide and prepare students for their future endeavors. This is one reason I decided to pursue a career in the field of education. My goal is to be the light of hope to mold students’ for their future careers.

 

Physical Education Requirements:

1. During class, students must wear tennis shoes/sneakers. This is to ensure safety as well as enhance their performance.

 

2. Girls are not excused from P.E. if they wear a dress or skirt. They may wear shorts or sweatpants under their dress/skirt.

 

3. If students cannot participate in P.E., they must have a note written by their parent for one or two days. If a student cannot participate for more than two days, then a doctor’s excuse is required.

 

Behavior Policy – Classroom Rules:

1. Listen and obey the first time.

2. Come to class prepared.

3. Respect others and their property.

 

Consequences:

Class policies/rules

-1st Offense…….  Action: A teacher-student conference initiated by the teacher

 

-2nd Offense……. Action: A teacher-initiated parent notification of the discipline

problems to the parent/guardian along with teacher-designated consequence

 

-3rd Offense……. Action: Referral to administrator who assigns consequence and/or

counselor intervention and notification of the discipline problems to parent/guardian.

 

-4th Offense…… Action: Referral to administrator as a Class II Offense (Habitual Class I

Offenses) and notification of the discipline problems to parent/guardian.

 

Note: Some major infractions may require immediate referral to the office.
