Ms. Haygood

Teaching is a noble and highly rewarding profession in which one is able to directly change the lives of others.  It is a way to contribute to the betterment of society.

It is my belief that teachers should strive to know students on a personal as well as academic level in order to provide them with the best education.

My philosophy of education encompasses several parts.  I believe that education should be based on more than academics.  It is also emotional, social, and physical.  It is my belief that a teacher should be a facilitator and a guide to learning, not just a knowledge-giver.  Teaching is developing life-long learners, and through education, an individual will receive the vital skills and tools that are necessary to build a life that is successful and prosperous.

It is our duty to ensure that learning takes place in an open, safe, and supportive environment for the well being of our students.

My teaching style includes a diversity of teaching methods and techniques.  I am a strong advocate of hands-on learning.  Supplementing a curriculum with a variety of activities is essential to the learning process.

I believe that by engaging students and using strategies that address each child’s individual learning style, all students will achieve academic success.

I also believe that after many years in this profession it is important to implement and understand the importance of using a variety of instructional strategies that address the needs of different students in order to become an effective educator.

My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for learning within my students and to provide the skill and tools necessary for success.
