My name is Chandra J. Hooks. I attended and am a proud graduate of Macon County Schools. Please read the information below to learn more about me.
Experience:
I began my teaching career at Tuskegee Institute Middle School in 2005. Currently, I am a 12th grade English instructor and chair of the English Language Arts Department at Booker T. Washington High School. In 2018, I was selected as the Macon County District Teacher of the Year, in addition to having been selected as 2018 Teacher of the Year at Booker T. Washington High School. Previously, I was selected with the same honor during my assignment at Tuskegee Institute Middle School. I have also been an instructor with Upward Bound, as well as an adjunct English instructor at Trenholm State Community College, 2009-2021.
Education:
I graduated from Deborah Cannon Wolfe High School in Shorter, Alabama. I have an Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from South University (formerly Draughons Junior College in Montgomery, Alabama). I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources Management from Faulkner University (Montgomery, AL). I have also earned a Master of Education Degree in English Language Arts Secondary Education from Alabama State University (Montgomery, AL), earning academic honors with all degrees.
Goals for my students:
I love teaching and I am very passionate about my work. My goal is to make sure every student is college and/or career ready for life!
Hobbies/Interests:
Besides teaching, I enjoy listening to music--MUSIC is my LIFE! I also enjoy reading, traveling, as well as helping others in my spare time. A few of my other favorites are listed below.
